Utopia Writing Competition
Update on Utopia:
In 2010 we held a writing competition and never had the time or means to get round to judging it. Publishing being a brutal business, we got busy with staying alive and were not able to correctly acknowledge all the talented writers who sent in entries. BUT we will get back to it soon and be in touch with you all. Apologies for this delay but thank you all for your wondrous patience! Happy 2012.

UPDATE (Nov 25, 2010) : There’s a bit of a delay going through your entries and we will be in touch soon about when results will be announced. Revenge Ink has been busy and there’s been more work than we could handle… But our gray cells will catch up soon and we’ll get right back to you! Sorry about this, and keep writing!
Competition Now Closed…
Hi everyone,
The Utopia competition officially closed on July 4th 2010 and we’d like to thank you all for your overwhelming support in sending your stories in. We’ve got a large number of fantastic entries and they all confirm the tremendous originality of writing around the world, which was exactly what we wanted to prove and why we launched the competition in the first place.
So thanks and keep checking back for results.
All the best,
Amita

Revenge Ink’s ‘UTOPIA’ Writing Competition: To Prove that Utopia Really Does Exist! Even as they claim to be capitalists, the big corporations of the publishing industry do everything they can to eliminate competition. They do it mainly by discouraging new writers and new types of writing. How many times have you got this response: we like your writing but don’t know how to market you? These companies also claim it is impossible to make money in a world where everyone plays games and watches movies but no one reads.
Revenge Ink was created to prove them wrong. We believe in fair and equal opportunities for publishers and authors alike, in a world where everyone is free to write as they please, think and live as they please, print and publish as they please. Everyone doing their own thing, reading what they like, writing what they like. Sounds like Utopia, huh? Well Utopia is here and now. And it begins with the Revenge Ink Writing Competition. Send us 10 pages of your most crackling prose – no racism, sexism, or hate-writing please - and we will publish the best among you in an Anthology one year after we receive the last entries. You will also receive medals at an award ceremony if you are selected a winner. This isn’t Cannes. It isn’t about furthering a celebrity-culture of ‘best’ and ‘second-best’. It is about creating an opening. Allowing new writing to emerge free and unhindered, in a spirit of inclusiveness, openness and an unshakable respect for the individual and the fundamentally human need for Art. We will publish the writers we like, according to our tastes (see our About Us page). Good writing isn’t about standards and rules. It isn’t about ‘genius’ as the academies claim.
We believe art can come from anyone, anywhere. And this competition aims to prove it. Opening date for entries: Dec 1st 2009. Closing date for entries: March 30th 2010.
Winners will be announced: July 15th 2010 (we reserve the right to change this date if the number of entries is too large)
